Safety statements:
This meeting is for self-identified Indigenous people whose ancestry originates from Turtle Island, otherwise known as North America and defined here as the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. This includes anyone of mixed Indigenous racial heritage. We also extend an invitation to all global Indigenous Peoples. We recognize we share spiritual, mental, emotional, and physical effects from colonization and racism, and want to provide a safe online room to discuss this trauma and how it manifests in our lives.
If you do not identify as an Indigenous Person of Color, we respectfully ask that you look for an alternative ACA meeting to attend. We do this to provide a People of Color safe space so that we can talk openly about our experiences as Indigenous people, intergenerational trauma, and the impact colonialism and racism have had and still have on our lives and ACA recovery. We invite you to check the ACA website at adultchildren.org for alternative meetings. We hope that you keep coming back to the program.
In this space, we honor all gender identities including but not limited to men, women, non-binary, two-spirit, and trans relatives. When referring to the entire group, we encourage everyone to use gender-inclusive terms such as relative, y'all, members, or family to make everyone feel welcome. Please be mindful of the pronouns after people’s names on Zoom, for example they/them, she/her, he/him.
